Most of the stones were taken by people who lost their homes to the great volcanic eruption. What for? They used those stones to rebuild their homes. As a result, many parts of these temples are lost. Reconstructing the temples require a lot of funding, and it's difficult since they don't know exactly how those temples look like, originally.<br /><br />Next:<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/4291977775/" title="_AAA0416 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2658/4291977775_fcf1f8f323_o.jpg" width="800" height="533" alt="_AAA0416" /></a><br /><br />I don't remember the name of this place. But the sea view is epic! You have to go there at least once and see it for yourself. It's superrr beautiful! One thing I do remember is that there are a lot of monkeys around this place. They are aggressive, and known for robbing things from people. They tend to go after shiny things. Spectacles, earrings, whatever stuff that shines. There is a reason why they grab those stuff. They want food in exchange of your stuff back. If you want your item back, offer food and the amount of food depends on the monkey's mood. You'd think you'll be able to scare them off before they come close enough, but they are fast, and they are everywhere. So I hid my stuff instead of risking it.<br /><br />Next:<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/4291977881/" title="_AAA0479 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2700/4291977881_152151ce1f_o.jpg" width="700" height="466" alt="_AAA0479" /></a><br /><br />They have restaurants by the beach too, just like most... beaches. Yes.<br /><br />And then:<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/4291977959/" title="_AAA0553 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4017/4291977959_a0ba8c6497_o.jpg" width="700" height="466" alt="_AAA0553" /></a><br /><br />Golden Retrievers on top of the Volcano, Gunung Batur. Inactive but very much alive. The steam alone is hot enough to cook eggs.<br /><br />And again:<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/4291978129/" title="_AAA0782 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4049/4291978129_a81df25329_o.jpg" width="700" height="466" alt="_AAA0782" /></a><br /><br />Unending lot of temples. Been shooting a lot of temples since Cambodia. Will I ever get a chance to go to Vatican City? Cathedrals are just as awesome.<br /><br />Finally:<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/4291978195/" title="_AAA0868 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2692/4291978195_667c30c332_o.jpg" width="800" height="533" alt="_AAA0868" /></a><br /><br />Wildlife in Bali, Indonesia. <i>LoL~</i><br />I love this photo a lot. It's just a cat, but it looks wild here. <span style="font-style:italic;">Meow~</span><br /><br />When will I see you again?<div><br /><b><i>AaronWoolala</i></b></div>AaronWoolalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14381653829163792750noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5467437362524248404.post-68481810630792951672010-01-20T12:43:00.005+08:002010-01-21T14:28:45.783+08:00Woolala's New JourneyBack from Indonesia! This time instead of hanging around at home, they want to go somewhere and spend some family fun time with my sister and I. <b>So yes, we are going to Malacca, and coming back on Wednesday</b>.<div><br /><div>And so, my next update will be on Wednesday or Thursday. I didn't expect this trip, so I didn't prepare a blog-post beforehand. I don't do scheduled posting, it kind of feels wrong to me. But anyway, will return with photos of Malacca. Not any famous historical spots, but the beach resort. <div><br /></div><div><br /><div>Cheers!</div><div><b><i>AaronWoolala</i></b></div></div></div></div>AaronWoolalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14381653829163792750noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5467437362524248404.post-54435038896335778172009-08-20T18:17:00.004+08:002009-08-20T18:43:15.629+08:00Good Japanese FoodCelebrated <a href="http://danielctw.com/">Daniel</a>'s birthday a few weeks back at Sushi Zanmai, One Utama. Therefore I'm going to need a lot of blogging material. I can't update my blog on a daily basis. And I wonder how some people actually manage to do that. Where do they get all their blog-stuff from? It's probably the lifestyle. Meeting people every day, attending events every weekend, and what not. See, my blog is mainly about photos and well, traveling experiences. So, no travel or photo-shoot, means no blogging material. I've been offered quite a few opportunities, but well...... I guess it's not my time yet. How regrettable.<br /><br />Next thing I'm going to do, get myself a diving license, equip myself with a waterproof camera, and explore a world, where most mysteries lie deep and waiting to be discovered - underwater photography, just wait!<br /><br />But anyway, I'm going to post up a pic just for fun.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3810063575/" title="_DSC3910 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2490/3810063575_eda468be39_o.jpg" alt="_DSC3910" width="650" height="436" /></a><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">So, do you know where this is?</span><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">AaronWoolala</span>AaronWoolalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14381653829163792750noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5467437362524248404.post-9969371784550329182009-08-06T22:50:00.004+08:002009-08-06T23:09:33.487+08:00Woolala Really ReturnsWhoa! It's quite difficult, since I'm trying to sell everything off - lenses, flash, battery grip, probably giving away the survival kit to whoever buys the stuff as well. Jumping ship is a headache. lol~<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">AaronWoolala</span>AaronWoolalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14381653829163792750noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5467437362524248404.post-65480601103224643282009-06-04T18:18:00.008+08:002009-06-04T18:59:00.046+08:00Waterfront, Kota KinabaluKota Kinabalu waterfront, a hot-spot, most lively during the evening until midnight. This is probably where all the clubbing people hang out. But I didn't go there to club, so like usual, the gang took out the cameras and started shooting at anything and everything.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3595083914/" title="_DSC2041 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3592/3595083914_8b84530815_o.jpg" alt="_DSC2041" width="650" height="401" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> <span style="font-weight: bold;">Like I said in the previous post, there were clouds blocking the view. I don't want to keep posting photos of ruins, so I'll be continuing with Cambodia only after I finish this one.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3579054918/" title="_DSC1834 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3408/3579054918_4d12e98eb5_o.jpg" alt="_DSC1834" width="700" height="469" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">So now you know what is this about. :D</span></div><br />I'll cut the long story short.<br />I traveled to Kota Kinabalu on the 1st of May 2009 by flight. Arrived at Terminal 2, took a taxi to Terminal 1 to meet up with the rest of the gang. Took another taxi to the hotel for that night, checked in, then left the room to venture around for a bit, and to get some dinner. The town, at night, is a pretty scary place. lol~<br /><br />We checked out on the following day to transfer to another hotel, and to meet up with the bigger part of the gang. More walking, food, then it was time for our boat ride.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3579055024/" title="_DSC1840 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3657/3579055024_0d890da5ca_o.jpg" alt="_DSC1840" width="600" height="402" /></a><br /></div><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Off to Manukan Island.</span><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3578249911/" title="_DSC1849 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3317/3578249911_5ca727253e_o.jpg" alt="_DSC1849" width="436" height="650" /></a><br /><br />It's a pretty OK place, if not for the crowd. Seriously, to get from one spot to another, you have to walk in a line. We visited a place, I can't recall the name of the place. There are many centers like this over there anyway. I suppose they are all almost the same? Hmmm... Maybe not all, since this place I went, they train the mute and deaf to draw, and other works. You know, the usual.<br /><br />And now, the photos!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3467748164/" title="_DSC0036 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3641/3467748164_b9dbf218ed_o.jpg" alt="_DSC0036" width="406" height="600" /></a><br /><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3466934765/" title="_DSC0016 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3545/3466934765_7eec94b940_o.jpg" alt="_DSC0016" width="600" height="339" /></a><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3466934981/" title="_DSC0035 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3650/3466934981_8cac6b732b_o.jpg" alt="_DSC0035" width="600" height="402" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">From left: <a href="http://williamleong.blogspot.com/">William</a>, <a href="http://satkuru.com/">Satkuru</a>, guide (I errr, forgot his name), Statue, <a href="http://unforseenpain.blogspot.com/">LeeMay</a>, <a href="http://huayphing.blogspot.com/">Angeline</a> (lol), & <a href="http://millymin.com/">Emily</a>.</span><br /></div><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3467749116/" title="_DSC0043 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3478/3467749116_f912023905_o.jpg" alt="_DSC0043" width="600" height="406" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: right;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3467749348/" title="_DSC0045 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3656/3467749348_ae65e94c1e_o.jpg" alt="_DSC0045" width="402" height="600" /></a><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3466935747/" title="_DSC0065 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3661/3466935747_87f922f625_o.jpg" alt="_DSC0065" width="600" height="402" /></a><br /></div><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3466936043/" title="_DSC0067 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3516/3466936043_d38eb5e533_o.jpg" alt="_DSC0067" width="402" height="600" /></a><br /><br />It's fun to actually watch them at work, seeing a piece of wood or stone slowly change into a certain shape, and eventually become these work of art. Notice I haven't been updating for a while now, been rather busy with quite a few things. Maybe now I do shorter but more frequent updates.<br /><br />Well, breakfast in Cambodia, pretty healthy stuff, I think.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3441007069/" title="_DSC9905 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3389/3441007069_bf801b2b24_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9905" width="400" height="600" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: right;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwoolala/3441821458/" title="_DSC9903 by Aaron@AxiaL, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3298/3441821458_6b3e641af5_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9903" width="600" height="415" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: right;">Usually I don't even eat breakfast.<br />There, they serve breakfast for free, so I whacked everything.<br /></div><br />I kinda miss Siam Reap. Well, we had only a few hours in Phnom Penh. Plenty of food I haven't try, it's kind of sad. This day was a painful one. Painful stories, painful bus trip, lunchless pain. My first time having that much bread in just a few days. That should explain the title.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3344/3334204591_9c3908f3ec_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9790" width="402" height="600" /><br /></div><br />I love the weather there. That morning, I woke up to a really loud music around 5:00a.m. "What the heck?!", I thought. Then later found out that there's a wedding right opposite our hotel.<br /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3010/3334204703_8f8f95a4b3_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9791" width="666" height="446" /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">This image is blurred due to the zooming during the rather slow-shutter shot. I turned the lens by accident, but like this shot more than the normal one. </span><br /><br />And then we were off to see the wiz... No, uh, to the Genocidal Museum.<br /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3583/3334204833_30cdfd6631_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9795" width="402" height="600" /><br /><br />Whatever happened there was very bad, inhuman. What some people would do to others for anything, sometimes I just don't understand.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: right;"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3367/3335039234_a2df6a64cd_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9797" width="402" height="600" /><br /></div><div style="text-align: right;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">This room had its own story. There are a few buildings, loads of stories to be told. A rather depressing place. </span><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3387/3335039372_486d3aa19b_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9810" width="402" height="600" /><br /></div><br />Right after that, we visited the Genocidal Center.<br /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3348/3334205185_3f3cc813b8_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9830" width="666" height="446" /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">It's a beautiful place, but more sad stories. Mass killing graves everywhere. </span><br /><br /><div style="text-align: right;"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3362/3334205275_6650af11ca_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9846" width="402" height="600" /><br /></div><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3398/3335039728_bfb10bcc79_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9867" width="402" height="600" /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">The many skulls inside the building. The number of skulls in this image is like, maybe only 2% of all the skulls you can find inside this building. </span><br /><br />A few weeks back, around the time I came back from this Cambodia trip, I saw a news. <a href="http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/2/17/worldupdates/2009-02-17T070954Z_01_NOOTR_RTRMDNC_0_-380533-1&sec=Worldupdates">"Killing Fields" trial to start 30 years after the fall of Pol Pot</a>.<br /><br />Enough of sad stories for now. Left the sad place, rented a "tuk-tuk" to scout for lunch.<br /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3027/3334205557_631a3d5d7b_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9872" width="666" height="446" /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Despite being a tourism spot, these guys gave me a feeling that they're not very used to tourists. I wonder why. Or maybe it's just weird to shoot at anything.</span><br /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3623/3334205749_0cd6f758a9_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9879" width="666" height="438" /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Even in Cambodia, can find Klang Bah Kut Teh. We didn't eat that, we never had anything for lunch that day. Scouting fail. </span><br /><br />And then, we said bye-bye to Phnom Penh and headed to our next destination, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siem_Reap">Siam Reap</a>. A truly awesome place.<br />Of course, that will be in the next update. lol~<br /><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">AaronWoolala out!</span>AaronWoolalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14381653829163792750noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5467437362524248404.post-12460831197042202922009-02-05T15:42:00.007+08:002009-04-17T14:00:33.223+08:00The Cambodia Story<span style="font-style: italic;">Chinese New Year is almost over now. This year's holiday is rather boring, no? You know how people like to gather and play card games during Chinese New Year. I hate card games, but to some, Chinese New Year is all about playing card games, so instead of going to people's place and watch them play, I stayed home. And, since I have nothing much to do at home, I ate like no one's business. Strange though, I did not put on any extra weight.</span><br /><br />I went on a trip to Cambodia with a bunch of friends, just before Chinese New Year. It's very much different from what I had expected, especially the weather. It's always cooling there. Their traffic system, is different from ours. I took a while to adjust to their left-hand side driving. Traffic is chaotic, and they really just cross the roads, and the number of honks one driver do in a day, is more than the number of honks I did since I 1st touched a car, and I think more than I would ever do in a lifetime. They honk at almost every car. Perhaps it's like a greeting? Or it's to alert the others of their presence?<br /><br />Pictures time! Just a few that I shot during Day One of the trip - <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phnom_Penh">Phnom Penh</a>.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3470/3254502129_0130a069d3_o.jpg" alt="_DSC1253" width="402" height="600" /><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">What do the clouds look like to you?</span><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3404/3254650935_1be8429e1c_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9712" width="666" height="446" /><br /></div><span style="font-weight: bold;">Cheapest transportation you can get in Cambodia. They call it "</span><a style="font-weight: bold;" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto_rickshaw">tuk-tuk</a><span style="font-weight: bold;">", known to us as auto rickshaw. Click on that link for more info on tuk-tuk.</span><br /><br />Our first meal in Cambodia, is <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuisine_of_Cambodia">Khmer food</a>, in a rather expensive shop - <span style="font-weight: bold;">Khmer Saravan</span> if not mistaken.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: right;"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3300/3254514673_ae6706de17_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9738" width="402" height="600" /><br /></div><div style="text-align: right;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Angkor Beer, it's better than Skol, I think. lol~ At least the Angkor Wat logo looks nicer.</span><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3487/3255494130_d976a76797_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9741" width="666" height="446" /><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Plain white rice.</span><br /></div><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3260/3254515001_777c5ce223_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9743" width="402" height="600" /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Amok Fish. Amok is a very tasty curry-type food. I love curry!</span><br /><br /><div style="text-align: right;"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3434/3254515095_364664b773_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9745" width="402" height="600" /><br /></div><div style="text-align: right; font-weight: bold;">Sour Soup. What's in it? I think you can roughly guess from the picture.<br />It's a fish soup, so it tastes like the <span style="font-style: italic;">teo-chew-steamed-fish</span>'s sauce.<br /></div><br />After dinner, we walked around town and shot pictures of almost everything. Also during this time, five out of seven of us complained about the cold temperature.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3452/3254651289_1f2c8d44fa_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9750" width="407" height="600" /><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">The Royal Palace. One out of many shots.</span><br /></div><br />While our photo-shooting session, we noticed many people staring at us. It got worse when we lined up the cameras and flashes to shoot a group photo. Maybe it's because all 7 of us carried DSLRs.<br /><br />And then, it was snack-time. What kind of snacks do they have? We spotted a shop and went to check it out.<br /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3466/3254651491_25b979a7a8_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9755" width="666" height="446" /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Oh yeah! They sell quite a lot of stuff, sea-crawlers, creepy-crawlies.</span><br /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3410/3254515631_39a9dc64e7_o.jpg" alt="_DSC9775" width="388" height="600" /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">This is a Tarantula spider, fried? It tastes better than I thought, kind of like </span><a style="font-weight: bold;" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rougan">dried meat</a><span style="font-weight: bold;">. Click on the link for more info on dried meat.</span><br /><br />We also ate crickets. I forgot to try their snakes, couldn't find scorpions. What a waste. Anyway, this blog-post ends here. Until the next update, have a good day!<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Woolala~</span>AaronWoolalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14381653829163792750noreply@blogger.com14
