More photos of places I visited in Indonesia.

First:


Lots of temples and stuff, the carvings and architectures are rather similar to those I saw back then in Cambodia. Most of the stones were taken by people who lost their homes to the great volcanic eruption. What for? They used those stones to rebuild their homes. As a result, many parts of these temples are lost. Reconstructing the temples require a lot of funding, and it's difficult since they don't know exactly how those temples look like, originally.

Next:


I don't remember the name of this place. But the sea view is epic! You have to go there at least once and see it for yourself. It's superrr beautiful! One thing I do remember is that there are a lot of monkeys around this place. They are aggressive, and known for robbing things from people. They tend to go after shiny things. Spectacles, earrings, whatever stuff that shines. There is a reason why they grab those stuff. They want food in exchange of your stuff back. If you want your item back, offer food and the amount of food depends on the monkey's mood. You'd think you'll be able to scare them off before they come close enough, but they are fast, and they are everywhere. So I hid my stuff instead of risking it.

Next:


They have restaurants by the beach too, just like most... beaches. Yes.

And then:


Golden Retrievers on top of the Volcano, Gunung Batur. Inactive but very much alive. The steam alone is hot enough to cook eggs.

And again:


Unending lot of temples. Been shooting a lot of temples since Cambodia. Will I ever get a chance to go to Vatican City? Cathedrals are just as awesome.

The Target

I've decided to update my blog at least once a week. Therefore I'm going to need a lot of blogging material. I can't update my blog on a daily basis. And I wonder how some people actually manage to do that. Where do they get all their blog-stuff from? It's probably the lifestyle. Meeting people every day, attending events every weekend, and what not. See, my blog is mainly about photos and well, traveling experiences. So, no travel or photo-shoot, means no blogging material. I've been offered quite a few opportunities, but well...... I guess it's not my time yet. How regrettable.

Next thing I'm going to do, get myself a diving license, equip myself with a waterproof camera, and explore a world, where most mysteries lie deep and waiting to be discovered - underwater photography, just wait!

But anyway, I'm going to post up a pic just for fun.

Waterfront, Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu waterfront, a hot-spot, most lively during the evening until midnight. This is probably where all the clubbing people hang out. But I didn't go there to club, so like usual, the gang took out the cameras and started shooting at anything and everything.

Like I said in the previous post, there were clouds blocking the view. No nice sunset photo. Lousy timing.

A whole row of clubs, restaurants, pubs, etc. Loud music playing everywhere.

Welcome To Sabah

I figured there's nothing left to blog about MDG Season 2 Finale, so I'll be blogging about my trips again. I don't want to keep posting photos of ruins, so I'll be continuing with Cambodia only after I finish this one.

So now you know what is this about. :D

I'll cut the long story short.
I traveled to Kota Kinabalu on the 1st of May 2009 by flight. Arrived at Terminal 2, took a taxi to Terminal 1 to meet up with the rest of the gang. Took another taxi to the hotel for that night, checked in, then left the room to venture around for a bit, and to get some dinner. The town, at night, is a pretty scary place. lol~

We checked out on the following day to transfer to another hotel, and to meet up with the bigger part of the gang. More walking, food, then it was time for our boat ride.

Off to Manukan Island.



It's a pretty OK place, if not for the crowd. Seriously, to get from one spot to another, you have to walk in a line. Freaking traffic congestion.

Photos, photos, photos~

Anchovies, very small fishes. More well known as Ikan Bilis.

We did not play in the sea, spent most of our time shooting photos. And since there was nothing much to do, we called our boat and headed back to town for more food, and more shooting as we were walking back to the hotel.


I suppose most Shouters know who this is already :D

And we waited for the sunset, but later in the evening the weather turned crappy, the sun was blocked by clouds. Everything was covered in plain boring blue, no sun rays, no horizon.

After I returned from the trip, I learned from a friend of mine who stays in Sabah, that the first week of May this year, is a lousy time to go to Sabah. *slaps forehead*

Nevertheless, a good experience. And dang, I miss the beach.

From Wat to Wat - Cambodia

The weather is freaking hot these days. Not a single day spent without feeling sweaty and sticky. I'm trying to cut down the electrical bill, so I don't turn on the air-cond as often. Plus Earth Day and all that, I suppose using less electricity will help. Doing my part as an Earthling. lol~

Aaaaaand, yeah still in Cambodia. Unending it seems. Perhaps something different in the next post to change the mood in my blog a little.

This time around, I'll be posting a few photos of temples. I don't remember exactly which is which though. Maybe I'll bring a diary in my next trip, suppose it'll help me blog better.

It felt awesome to be there. The view was spectacular. You think you've seen it in photos and all that, but it's nothing compare to seeing it with your own eyes! I was like, woo... WooOO! Wowww.. Whoa! lol~

That's Ai Ling. This is actually the area in front of Angkor Wat.

An Algerian Orange-tailed Skink.

A lizard-type animal. It's very cute as its tail kept moving, kinda like a dog wagging its tail. I suppose it's a type of warning to possible threats or predators. Maybe I'm wrong, but most animals with striking-coloured skin are like that, no? lol~

Where They Live

This is how the dry season looks like, imagine when it's wet.

Them kids are cute, but they were asking for money as they posed for the camera. I didn't give them any money though. The tour guide told us not to, because if we gave the kids money, they won't go to school, and will spend all their time asking for money. Good point, but I feel sad for them, I think.


Last one, a happy photo. Koreans I think, funny people. Gave us the V sign, so we blasted our cameras at them.

Another Day In Pain-dise

Final day in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Well, we had only a few hours in Phnom Penh. Plenty of food I haven't try, it's kind of sad. This day was a painful one. Painful stories, painful bus trip, lunchless pain. My first time having that much bread in just a few days. That should explain the title.

I love the weather there. That morning, I woke up to a really loud music around 5:00a.m. "What the heck?!", I thought. Then later found out that there's a wedding right opposite our hotel.

And then we were off to see the wiz... No, uh, to the Genocidal Museum.



Whatever happened there was very bad, inhuman. What some people would do to others for anything, sometimes I just don't understand.

This room had its own story. There are a few buildings, loads of stories to be told. A rather depressing place.

Right after that, we visited the Genocidal Center.


It's a beautiful place, but more sad stories. Mass killing graves everywhere.

The many skulls inside the building. The number of skulls in this image is like, maybe only 2% of all the skulls you can find inside this building.

A few weeks back, around the time I came back from this Cambodia trip, I saw a news. "Killing Fields" trial to start 30 years after the fall of Pol Pot.

Enough of sad stories for now. Left the sad place, rented a "tuk-tuk" to scout for lunch.


Despite being a tourism spot, these guys gave me a feeling that they're not very used to tourists. I wonder why. Or maybe it's just weird to shoot at anything.


Even in Cambodia, can find Klang Bah Kut Teh. We didn't eat that, we never had anything for lunch that day. Scouting fail.

And then, we said bye-bye to Phnom Penh and headed to our next destination, Siam Reap. A truly awesome place.

The Cambodia Story

Chinese New Year is almost over now. This year's holiday is rather boring, no? You know how people like to gather and play card games during Chinese New Year. I hate card games, but to some, Chinese New Year is all about playing card games, so instead of going to people's place and watch them play, I stayed home. And, since I have nothing much to do at home, I ate like no one's business. Strange though, I did not put on any extra weight.

I went on a trip to Cambodia with a bunch of friends, just before Chinese New Year. It's very much different from what I had expected, especially the weather. It's always cooling there. Their traffic system, is different from ours. I took a while to adjust to their left-hand side driving. Traffic is chaotic, and they really just cross the roads, and the number of honks one driver do in a day, is more than the number of honks I did since I 1st touched a car, and I think more than I would ever do in a lifetime. They honk at almost every car. Perhaps it's like a greeting? Or it's to alert the others of their presence?

Our first meal in Cambodia, is Khmer food, in a rather expensive shop - Khmer Saravan if not mistaken.

Angkor Beer, it's better than Skol, I think. lol~ At least the Angkor Wat logo looks nicer.

Amok Fish. Amok is a very tasty curry-type food. I love curry!

Sour Soup. What's in it? I think you can roughly guess from the picture.
It's a fish soup, so it tastes like the teo-chew-steamed-fish's sauce.

After dinner, we walked around town and shot pictures of almost everything. Also during this time, five out of seven of us complained about the cold temperature.

While our photo-shooting session, we noticed many people staring at us. It got worse when we lined up the cameras and flashes to shoot a group photo. Maybe it's because all 7 of us carried DSLRs.

And then, it was snack-time. What kind of snacks do they have? We spotted a shop and went to check it out.


Oh yeah! They sell quite a lot of stuff, sea-crawlers, creepy-crawlies.


This is a Tarantula spider, fried? It tastes better than I thought, kind of like dried meat. Click on the link for more info on dried meat.

We also ate crickets. I forgot to try their snakes, couldn't find scorpions. What a waste. Anyway, this blog-post ends here. Until the next update, have a good day!
