Jumping Ship

A short weekend update. Really short one. Only four pics, to make you feel hungry. :D
Oh and a little something at the end that explains the title.

It's been a long time since I last went food hunting. Saving up some money for trips and camera upgrade. In fact, I'm going to change camera brand. Going to buy Nikon. So, I'm going to sell my Sony Alpha gear. Anyone wanna buy? :D

Craft of Cambodia

Still in Cambodia, and this time, I'm gonna post here photos of sculptures and carvings. We visited a place, I can't recall the name of the place. There are many centers like this over there anyway. I suppose they are all almost the same? Hmmm... Maybe not all, since this place I went, they train the mute and deaf to draw, and other works. You know, the usual.

And now, the photos!

It's fun to actually watch them at work, seeing a piece of wood or stone slowly change into a certain shape, and eventually become these work of art. Awesome! This usually take years to train. So if you like their work, maybe you can show them support by buying their work. Although for that to happen, you have to visit Cambodia. lol~

The Filler

Short update, just to keep the blog alive. Notice I haven't been updating for a while now, been rather busy with quite a few things. Maybe now I do shorter but more frequent updates.

Well, breakfast in Cambodia, pretty healthy stuff, I think.

_DSC9905

_DSC9903
Usually I don't even eat breakfast.
There, they serve breakfast for free, so I whacked everything.

I kinda miss Siam Reap. It's probably the full body massage. It was a rather funny experience. Now I feel like I need a massage.

_DSC9890
No not this one, although I don't know what this really means... Birdy massage hmmm...

Another Day In Pain-dise

Final day in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Well, we had only a few hours in Phnom Penh. Plenty of food I haven't try, it's kind of sad. This day was a painful one. Painful stories, painful bus trip, lunchless pain. My first time having that much bread in just a few days. That should explain the title.

_DSC9790

I love the weather there. That morning, I woke up to a really loud music around 5:00a.m. "What the heck?!", I thought. Then later found out that there's a wedding right opposite our hotel.

_DSC9791
This image is blurred due to the zooming during the rather slow-shutter shot. I turned the lens by accident, but like this shot more than the normal one.

And then we were off to see the wiz... No, uh, to the Genocidal Museum.

_DSC9795

Whatever happened there was very bad, inhuman. What some people would do to others for anything, sometimes I just don't understand.

_DSC9797
This room had its own story. There are a few buildings, loads of stories to be told. A rather depressing place.

_DSC9810

Right after that, we visited the Genocidal Center.

_DSC9830
It's a beautiful place, but more sad stories. Mass killing graves everywhere.

_DSC9846

_DSC9867
The many skulls inside the building. The number of skulls in this image is like, maybe only 2% of all the skulls you can find inside this building.

A few weeks back, around the time I came back from this Cambodia trip, I saw a news. "Killing Fields" trial to start 30 years after the fall of Pol Pot.

Enough of sad stories for now. Left the sad place, rented a "tuk-tuk" to scout for lunch.

_DSC9872
Despite being a tourism spot, these guys gave me a feeling that they're not very used to tourists. I wonder why. Or maybe it's just weird to shoot at anything.

_DSC9879
Even in Cambodia, can find Klang Bah Kut Teh. We didn't eat that, we never had anything for lunch that day. Scouting fail.

And then, we said bye-bye to Phnom Penh and headed to our next destination, Siam Reap. A truly awesome place.
Of course, that will be in the next update. lol~

The Cambodia Story

Chinese New Year is almost over now. This year's holiday is rather boring, no? You know how people like to gather and play card games during Chinese New Year. I hate card games, but to some, Chinese New Year is all about playing card games, so instead of going to people's place and watch them play, I stayed home. And, since I have nothing much to do at home, I ate like no one's business. Strange though, I did not put on any extra weight.

I went on a trip to Cambodia with a bunch of friends, just before Chinese New Year. It's very much different from what I had expected, especially the weather. It's always cooling there. Their traffic system, is different from ours. I took a while to adjust to their left-hand side driving. Traffic is chaotic, and they really just cross the roads, and the number of honks one driver do in a day, is more than the number of honks I did since I 1st touched a car, and I think more than I would ever do in a lifetime. They honk at almost every car. Perhaps it's like a greeting? Or it's to alert the others of their presence?

Pictures time! Just a few that I shot during Day One of the trip - Phnom Penh.

_DSC1253
What do the clouds look like to you?

_DSC9712
Cheapest transportation you can get in Cambodia. They call it "tuk-tuk", known to us as auto rickshaw. Click on that link for more info on tuk-tuk.

Our first meal in Cambodia, is Khmer food, in a rather expensive shop - Khmer Saravan if not mistaken.

_DSC9738
Angkor Beer, it's better than Skol, I think. lol~ At least the Angkor Wat logo looks nicer.

_DSC9741
Plain white rice.

_DSC9743
Amok Fish. Amok is a very tasty curry-type food. I love curry!

_DSC9745
Sour Soup. What's in it? I think you can roughly guess from the picture.
It's a fish soup, so it tastes like the teo-chew-steamed-fish's sauce.

After dinner, we walked around town and shot pictures of almost everything. Also during this time, five out of seven of us complained about the cold temperature.

_DSC9750
The Royal Palace. One out of many shots.

While our photo-shooting session, we noticed many people staring at us. It got worse when we lined up the cameras and flashes to shoot a group photo. Maybe it's because all 7 of us carried DSLRs.

And then, it was snack-time. What kind of snacks do they have? We spotted a shop and went to check it out.

_DSC9755
Oh yeah! They sell quite a lot of stuff, sea-crawlers, creepy-crawlies.

_DSC9775
This is a Tarantula spider, fried? It tastes better than I thought, kind of like dried meat. Click on the link for more info on dried meat.

We also ate crickets. I forgot to try their snakes, couldn't find scorpions. What a waste. Anyway, this blog-post ends here. Until the next update, have a good day!

Combo Party

Nowadays busy with film photography. It's very much different if compared to digital. Everything takes a lot longer, and you have to go through the whole chemical process for a single photo. Phew~

There was a small gathering last Wednesday, to celebrate William's birthday, and it was also a small farewell party for Angeline. She will be leaving KL for her hometown, she's graduating soon. *claps* Kita orangs mesti ingat lu!

_DSC7534
William & Angeline

It took place in Niu Ze Xui (NZX), Ara Damansara. There's this Fullhouse place there that is rather nice.

The cute menu. Very cartooney.

_DSC7512
Chicken Chop. Not my order, but it looks good to me.

_DSC7516
Rib-Eye Steak with Thyme Sauce. It tasted good, only, a bit too cooked.

It's a good place, but I'm not sure if they messed up the order or missed it out. They sent out all our food, except those of the two VIPs of the night. Poor them, waited for almost 2 hours. I don't think they are ever going back to that place. LoL~

Goody Food

Ho! I'm hungry~ It's been a long time since I last went food hunting. Life's getting tougher by the day. No matter, photos time! Since I'm hungry, I wanna make you hungry too. Heh~

_DSC7262
This is errr.. TGIF's Bluey-drink. OK I obviously forgot the name of the drink. Not bad, sweet and sour.

_DSC7273
This is TGIF's Chicken-combo set thingy, I think. Comes with a dessert, although I didn't get to shoot it before it melted and its shape went off.

_DSC7275
About this photo, the depth of field is too shallow, but you can still clearly see it's beef, so I think it's OK :P
Oh and yeah, it's good.

_DSC7149
This one is not TGIF's, but a buffet restaurant in Le Meridian, KL. I have no idea what it is. lol~

_DSC7342
Finally, the best waffle, Waffle World's Triple Nutz! It's crunchy and tasty, very nutty. For those who don't like nuts, well they have other stuff too. Maybe next round I try and let you know.
