Penang, The End

Last of Penang trip! Very slow updates, I know. I've been busy traveling. Anyway, this post mainly photos. Well, begin!

DSC09389 1
First thing in the morning!

Yes, went to a food place for breakfast, don't remember the name of the place. Took photos around before food arrived. And once the food is in front of us, we didn't eat immediately. We are bloggers alright, we took photos.

IMG_1811
Very nice, Pork Rolls?

IMG_1812
Loh Mee

And then we headed to a Temple, just across the street.

IMG_1823
The Temple was crowded.

We took a lot of photos of people releasing birds, mine wasn't taken from a good angle, so, many shots appeared rather confusing. Therefore, I'm not going to post them up.

Next! More food!

IMG_1842
Auntie also posing!

Played posing outside the shop.

And then we headed to Khoo Kongsi for more photo-shooting.

They were experimenting with their cameras.

IMG_1888
Old time signs, very nice.

IMG_1897
Interesting wall-art. Look like guardians to me.

IMG_1906
Behind-the-scene shot.

Yeah we took more photos behind the hall. After that, we left the place to look for a drink or something to cool us down.

IMG_1921
Found this place - Takku Ice Cafe

IMG_1919
The interior is quite nice.

IMG_1915
Mango & mixed fruits.

Not the best one I've tried, but it's nice. Especially when the day is so hot, anything goes!

After that, we headed back to Ahlok's place to prepare for dinner with Shouters. Of course, we didn't go directly to the dinner place, we did more photo-shooting first. But I don't think I'm going to post up those shots, too many photos in this post already.

IMG_1945
QEII Penang

And then dinner at "Big Tree Leg". That's direct translation from Chinese. It really means Under The Tree. So, Under The Tree Restaurant?

DSC09681
Group photo with Shouters and friends.

And then we had to run to the Ferry and Train Station, because we were late. We feared that we might lose the train. But the train was late! So, we took photos, again.

Do I miss Penang? Hmmm...

Penang, the 3rd

Continuing the Penang trip, yes this is the third part. Went to Cherry Sweet to eat Tom Yam.

IMG_1778
Their signboard a bit difficult to see.

Went on in to find out what's special about this place. Ahlok said this place has very good Tom Yam soup. I love spicy food, especially curry. Good Tom Yam is difficult to find.

IMG_1765
Seafood Tom Yam

Well, not as good as I expected, but can do. It's not really that spicy, and it lacked some flavor to it, I can't find the right words to explain that flavor. Sour, fishy taste, maybe not thick enough.

IMG_1766
Green Curry Chicken

This one is my favorite among the food we tried, mamamia~

IMG_1769
Stuffed Crabs?

I'm not sure what they stuffed the crabs' shells with, but it was good. Tasted like fish-ball or fish-cake.

IMG_1771
Deep Fried Kangkung

Not my kind of food, but it was OK, sweet and crispy.

IMG_1776
Dessert of the Day

I forgot its name, but very nice. Water-chestnut, ice, and jelly. Sweeeeeeeeet~

After that, we headed to somewhere else to eat more food. Jason and Joshua both uploaded a video, that teleport one. Yeah we headed to the place opposite of New World Park, to eat more desserts and fried oysters with egg.

IMG_1780
Cendol

That's what we call it. Jelly, ice, red beans, coconut milk and so on. The result is very sweet, and if you can't take too much of coconut milk, then this is not your kind of food.

IMG_1781
Uh, Capalang of Fruits?

Obviously, I forgot the name. And the photo tells everything, so I need not explain.

IMG_1783
Fried Oysters with Egg

This is the special, I never tasted this kind of Fried Oyster with Egg before. Very very nice, but a little too oily. The sauce is what differentiates this one with others I've tasted. And it's very crispy, unlike those I normally eat.

And then we stopped eating and took a few lean shots, I'm not going to post those here because I look funny in those photos. Next, Lovers' Bridge?

IMG_1790
Yes it is! Lovers' Bridge.

Though, I don't see why lovers would want to come here. It felt like it's going to collapse anytime. But the sight was nice, and they did their jumping, but no leaning photos because of the fear of leaning into the sea?

IMG_1799

IMG_1801
smashpOp jump, behind-the-scene shot.

And then it's time to go meet up with Penang Shouters for dinner, for the first time. I didn't take photos during the dinner, so there's only a group photo.

IMG_1804
My version of group photo.

Kind of dark, and blur because I didn't change the camera settings.

smashpOp's version.

Here, a clearer one.

Next post, should be the final post for this Penang trip.

Penang, The 2nd

Continuing the previous post on the Penang trip with smashpOp, Douglas, Joshua and Ahlok - Entering, Penang! - We headed to the ferry.

Waiting for the ferry to arrive at the port.

The ferry jump.

I actually kicked Jason's camera by accident during this shot. Good thing it was a minor hit. Anyway, sorry dude.

IMG_1708.jpg
Nearing the port, that's QEII, I think.

IMG_1709.jpg
Random shot.

And then we got off the ferry to meet up with Ahlok. A very friendly guy, now a Shouter. He brought us all for breakfast before heading to our next destination - Kek Lok Si.

IMG_1719.jpg
What we had for breakfast - Toasts and coffee.

Kek Lok Si, a big temple. Why is it so famous? I don't know. Can anyone please explain it to me? Haha~ Next, a few photos of Kek Lok Si that I took.

IMG_1734.jpg
There, my version of Kek Lok Si's photo.

IMG_1744.jpg
I kind of like the plants in this photo.

IMG_1750.jpg
Imagine with wide lens, fuyoh!

IMG_1752.jpg
I find this part of Kek Lok Si rather relaxing.

IMG_1753.jpg
Another photo of the temple.

IMG_1754.jpg
Climbing the way up to the big Goddess Statue.

IMG_1761.jpg
Construction in progress. We didn't get to see the rest of the place.

And then smashpOp's leaning photos with me in as well. It was rather fun to do.

As you all would know, Aaron is currently in Penang (again) and he came up with some fellow KL bloggers to attend ShoutOut's Year End Barbecue Party as well as celebrating my birthday! And yea, he gets to party at the beach. He seems very excited about it.

Ah well, I'm just doing a good deed for updating because he's been kinda stuck lately, so I'm just going to spruce things up a little here. Woolala~

This is his current condition, with my cool looking sunglasses. -_^

Woolala will be back in action in er, 2 days? Well, if he doesn't you guys can just mass spam his blog till he does okay. Make him blog for you guys!
So that's it for now, I shall bid goodbye with a Woolala.

Here I come, again!

I'm supposed to post about the 2nd part of the Penang trip, but I have a more important announcement to make.

I'm going to Penang again!

Starting Friday, until Sunday night. Why am I going to Penang again? To meet up with more Shouters, and a special occasion, ShoutOut's Year End Barbecue Party. It's held at the beach, so I don't want to miss this!

Entering, Penang!

Penang trip post? Yes I think it is. You've seen the photos at smashpOp's blog, a different version at Douglas' blog, and Joshua's, well, they all took good photos. The ones I took are only normal photos. Their tools, gosh, great cameras! Just wait!

Now, my turn to explain about the Penang trip. My style.

I left Port Klang and traveled to Kuala Lumpur Central station by KTM. Expected a boring journey, so I filled my hand phone with songs and it helped. Anyway, I gave Jason, otherwise known as smashpOp, a call to find out where he is at the Central station, and then I spotted him with another guy I've never seen. So we introduced ourselves a bit. Douglas Ho, guess I made myself a new friend.

Suddenly, there was an announcement, the train we're supposed to board is going to take off in a few minutes. But there was another guy, missing. Joshua, rushed to the Central station as fast as he could after work. Apparently his boss wanted him to stay back for a while. It's a good thing he made it in time. The doors closed right after he boarded the train. What's next? We did what we like to do best, taking photos.

DSC_9231.jpg
Aaron, yes me, and Joshua, the guy who almost miss the train.
Douglas took this photo.

Next, I started taking photos too, with my digital camera.

IMG_1642.jpg
Douglas & Jason

Then Joshua got hungry, so we went to the cafeteria coach to find something to eat.

IMG_1662.jpg
The Cafeteria

Quite a noisy area, there were people playing cards and games, I wonder who played Jengga. The train was shaking all the while. Having nothing to play with, Jason took out his hand phone to connect to the internet.

IMG_1672.jpg
ShoutOut!

So Jason shouted while the very hungry Joshua ate, since he had to skip dinner time to rush to the station. After a while, we grew hungry too. According to Joshua, the fried rice was not good, so we went for the tastiest possible food on the train, probably the cleanest too. Instant noodles.

IMG_1675.jpg
The food we ate.

DSC09078.jpg
Uh, eating the food?
Thanks to Douglas for this photo.

After that, we went back to our berths to rest. We chatted, took more photos, and eventually, fell asleep.......

The next morning, we were awakened by the alarms we set. I looked out of the window, Penang bridge greeted me. Finally, after almost 10 hours on the train.

We got off the train, stretched a bit, talked about the nice shaky sleep. Really, the trains' shaking felt like a swinging bed, it was fun. And well, we took more photos.

IMG_1679.jpg
This is what I got, from the Butterworth station.

Cameras' flashed, everyone took their photos, Jason did his "Jump". And then we headed to the ferry.

I wanted to continue writing, but it will become too long. 27 photos in a post is too many, no? So I'll update again in one or two days. I have them all prepared. Come back again soon!

An Evening at The Curve

This is not a Penang trip's post.

Well, I went to The Curve last night with AlvinC to meet up with Firewire - a Shouter - to have dinner together, also to see Cherylyn and her boyfriend, Jason (a potential Shouter?), for the first time.

Here are the photos.

Coming up next...

I'm back from Penang! And I'm ready to update a bit on the trip. But I can't fit everything into one post. That'll take very long, and the post will be too long, too. So, expect a few posts on the Penang trip.

Anyway, this post is only here to let you know I'm back. I will update again, once I'm done with processing all of the photos.

IMG_1693 (480 x 360)
A photo of Penang, foggy.

Just in case someone said I made up a story, like what happened in the past.
More photos on the next update.

And, before I end this post, I really have to say, I had a great time eating and taking photos when I was at Penang. Had a lot of fun meeting up with Penang Shouters too. Finally huh? It's been long. I will go to Penang again, real soon!

DSC_9353 (400 x 602)
Penang rocks!

Stay tuned.
